uncensorED

A typographic branding campaign that covers the issues of censorship in education.

Project Type: Branding

Tools: Illustrator, Photoshop

Duration: 1 Month

UncensorED is a brand campaign created by Michelle Altine, Connor Dickson, Liora Rodney, and myself that uncovers the HB 1084, a bill that had been passed by Georgia that purposely prevents teachers and students from speaking freely about certain topics in the classroom. The purpose of this campaign is to bring awareness to the issue of the government silencing citizens, specifically people of color.

We were visually inspired by posters that deliberately crossed out information in order to communicate that a form of censoring had been taking place, usually done with a thick marker. Other visuals such as the map of the US, and using the primary colors to connect to the education system are all things we attempted to incorporate into our final branding guide. As for typography, using typefaces that communicated a serious tone were preferred over others.

In the situation that uncensorED would have a conference, this is how the promotional materials would look. An Instagram sponsored ad, and flyers that would be posted around Atlanta.
